Apart from documentation, it is useful to have the possibility to rely on skilled human being expertise.

Usually producers offer assistance by e-mail, telephone, bulletin board: paid, or free, on an annual fee basis. You 'd better check carefully. 
It is unlikely that you will ever contact the 'techies' directly, the computer human resources that know the 'bellies' of the software engine: they do not have the same knowledge of the teaching training marketing personnel and viceversa: unless, unless the firm is small, kind of "one-man-firm", by the way: excellent landscape, you'll get by far the best responses, provided you correspondent feels willing to talk and give information to you on the subject.

Also discussion lists, e-mail with remote 'never-met' individuals, if not colleagues, can help a lot.
